For me it’s important to never forget where I come from. I believe my background as an architect always shines through, as it’s an existential part of me.
Some call it Mixed Media, Felix Scheinberger, from whom I learnt the technique, calls it Drainting—combining the words “drawing” and “painting”, which is exactly how I use it:
I start with a line drawing in ink, and then I colorize it with watercolours or any other wet medium. Once the paint is dry I often add another dry medium, like crayons or colored pencils.
The technique also works nicely in reverse, meaning that I refine the rough shape with the wet medium first, adding more and more detail with ink and/or dry medium as I go.
